Plastics are to product consumers what distributors are to producers. You cannot have one without the other. You walk into any food store, supermarket without carrying bag and walk out with nicely packaged items in plastic bags.

Use of plastics to carry average weight items has become common place. The plastic industry has high turnover of different sizes, shapes and colors to match consumer demand for this commodity. Plastics offer a wide range of consumer service satisfaction. No one gripes about plastic damping menace in society.   How are plastics made? What makes plastic special in ferrying food stuffs? What are the advantages and disadvantages of using plastics?

Thermosets and Thermoplastics are two types of materials plastics commonly referred to as “resins,” are made of. The distinction in manufacturing procedure is not clear to ordinary folk. Thermosets can be recycled but not Thermoplastics. However, extensive use of finished product compensates for lack of knowledge on technical details in manufacturing of plastics.

The downside is in disposing used plastic bags. Plastic does not rot in the same way as organic materials. In urban centers where plastic bags are in high demand, damping is a big issue. Manufacturers are researching recycling procedure to reuse plastic in another form.
