polyethylene-vs-polypropylene

Plastics are made from different materials. They come in different sizes, shapes and colors to satisfy consumer needs. Polyethylene and Polypropylene are two types of common plastic products in the market today. Plastic production is highly controlled to get the right outcome.

Mass production of plastic products raises controversy over disposal since plastic products do not rot. Plastics make up a huge percentage of garbage which is yet to be recycled. The number of plastics continues to increase with frequent usage while researchers have yet to come up come with alternative ways to recycle plastics.

Polyethylene is easy to manufacture and lot cheaper in cost production.

Polypropylene is used in making pipes, containers, home wares and packaging. This type of plastic has high economic value from the sale of products made from it. Polyethylene is distinguished from Polypropylene in three ways.

  1. Polyethylene has low melting point than its counterpart Polypropylene.
  2. Polypropylene makes strong, robust and resistant chemical plastic products compared to Polyethylene.
  3. Polypropylene is durable and able to maintain its shape under diverse weather conditions making this product come highly recommended. However when it comes to recycling process, these two plastics products are not environmentally friendly.
