It is grateful to have a brother or a sister regardless if you’re related by blood or not. No one wants to be an only child because definitely you would dream of having someone to play with and share your thoughts too. Someone whom you can call your big or younger sibling, whether if he/she is your half or step brother or sister.
A step sibling is a relationship with your brother or sister wherein you don’t have any blood relations. It can be described as the union of two widowed individuals or legally separated from their former spouse, having their own children with the intention of entering into marriage and establishing a new family. Your step father or mother has already their children before legally marrying your biological mother or father. As a result, that makes your step father’s or mother’s children as your step siblings.
On the other hand, when we speak of the term “half sibling”, it means that the relationship with your brother or sister is affected through blood relations. Your step father or mother does not have any children before marrying your biological mother or father. In which case, the children of your biological mother from another father are your half siblings.
