Kootanchoru or Mixed Rice Recipe Preparation Method

Ingredients

  • Rice – 200 grams
  • Split gram – 50 grams
  • Drumstick, carrot – 1
  • Beans – 4
  • Peas – 1 table spoon
  • Colocasia – small piece
  • Potato – 1
  • Broad beans – 4
  • Pumpkin – small piece
  • Plantain – small piece
  • Brinjal – 1
  • Small onion – 10
  • Tomato – 1
  • Green chilli – 3
  • Garlic – 4 pieces
  • Ginger – small piece
  • Mango – small piece
  • Coconut – ¼
  • Cumin seed – 1 teaspoon
  • Sambar powder – 1 spoon
  • Coriander leaves – 1 teaspoon
  • Bengal gram – ½ spoon
  • Asafoetida – ¼ spoon
  • Turmeric powder, black gram – 1 teaspoon
  • Sun dried chilli – 5
  • Mustard seed, black gram – 1 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves – somewhat
  • Oil and salt – as required

Instructions

  1. Put split gram, and rice in water and leave it for some time.
  2. Cut the vegetable as small pieces.
  3. Chop the onion, tomato, green chilli.
  4. Grind coconut,cumin seed, onion, sambar powder, coriander leaves, Bengal gram, black gram,sun dried chilli in mixer grinder.
  5. Boil rice and split gram with turmeric powder.
  6. Heat the oil add mustard seeds, black gram, curry leaves, asafetida and roast it, now add the chopped vegetables, peas, tomato, green chilli, garlic, ginger and roast.
  7. Then add this mixture in rice and boil for some time. Now the dish is ready.
